Roof Damage From Condensation

I have thought about having installed 10 circular soffit vents both front and back. My house, which I bought quite recently, is a 1970s semi with pitched, tiled roof with bitumen felt secondary barrier . The roof did have two obvious leaks which were down to a combination of eroded ridge mortar and torn felt underlay in places. Rain was coming into the ridge line and running down the felt, leaking into the loft where it found holes in the felt.

All information and advice given is for entertainment and informational purposes only. The person doing the work is solely responsible to insure that their work complies with their local building code and OSHA safety regulations. Our asphalt roof wasn’t maintained, and it developed cracks. So before it could be late, we called the team of Roofing Tops. They gave us maintenance tips and replaced our shingles. We called Roofing Tops, and they gave us the quote according to our budget.

Question: Condensation in Mobile Home Closet?

Assuming all these are clear and you still have problems then other actions will have to be taken. The next step is probably to install a number of roof tile vents. These replace roof tiles and as part of the installation process the roofing felt will be cut which will allow better ventilation. They can also be an outlet for any mechanical extraction from bathrooms if required. Condensation is a huge problem and affects a significant proportion of homes in the UK.

I have checked the soffits, insulation gap, inlet pipe and all are clear and we have the wafer gaps instaleld so the insulation does not cover the edges. Condensation is most likely to be a problem during cold weather when the loft is at its coldest and doors and windows in the home are closed. It is less likely to be a problem in summer months unless there is a more serious problem. ER Group offer an extensive range of roofing services.

The Problem With Using Insulation Alone

A dry form or expanding type Both will work about the same so check around and get the best price for the insulation. There is no mold, but we did notice we had to fix the floor in that corner before we moved in and at first thought it was due to a leaky roof, but that is not the case. Because “a ventilation system is only as good as its weakest point,” as Chris says, the wet air is not moved effectively. One of the things that can really add to the cost of mobile home living is not taking good care of your plumbing... Nobody wants to deal with mold in their home, and you’re no exception!

Over the years, they've decided to sell all their roofs as a premium product. They only offer their customers the best, and don't cut corners. They charge a premium price, but have an excellent reputation, and never get any callbacks.

Question: Remedy for Condensation Buildup in My Ceiling?

We have a dreadful problem with condensation in our trailer roof. We have pulled down the ceiling, removed the insulation, and cleaned it up. I am wondering if creating a "transition" like the one that exists in a wood attic, ie. "drop ceiling" like situation to create a larger air transition area would work. As for the bathroom do you have a ventilation fan in the ceiling or wall that pulls all the humid air out of there? Hot steamy showers are the culprit but unless you want a cold shower there isn't much you can do except keep the door open when you shower.

Mobile homes are often not as insulated or moisture proof as a conventional home. This can cause mold and mildew to grow inside walls or in bathrooms or kitchen areas. The DripStop is actually part of the roofing material. (The membrane cannot be added to an existing structure.) It’s also made of polyester and rubber, so it’s resilient to aging and corrosion.

While we often spend a lot of time working to keep water out , we sometimes neglect the problem of the water within. Condensation isn’t the only moisture problem that threatens your crawl space. You might notice your home becoming unlevel, or seeming to sag. This could be a result of standing water underneath your home, often caused by a water runoff into your crawl space. Keep the air circulating by placing a fan in the window to pull the air from the inside out.

It sounds as if you have already tried to improve the ventilation within the loft area. So looking at ways to stop warm moist air from getting into the loft would be the next step. Rising moist air from kitchens and cooking or bathrooms and showers are possible sources – if these is suspected then improving extraction in the specific room could help. Also check that any bathroom shower ceiling extractor fans do not have pipes that are leaking moist air into the loft.

The only way to accomplish that is to remove your entire ceiling and install a sealed plastic vapour barrier. It is estimated that 1 in 5 homes are affected with condensation in the attic or loft. If you think you may have a condensation problem, then it’s worth getting it checked as soon as possible before too much damage is caused. Mobile home renovations can be hectic with so many designs and sizes available.

I am hopeing that the county guy will come up with some kind of answer soon. In the mean time I am trying to find ways of fixing this or at least explain to the county guy that in some way I need a new roof that has some overhang for ventalation. The top already has 4 vents but there is no air flow coming in. Also there is no insulation where the 1"x2" trusses run From the ceiling to the roof it is open those 2 inches every truss. To reinsulate, either the roof or the ceiling has to come off and cost is a big factor here.

Condensation

By utilizing your exhaust fans and the simple gift of fresh air, you’ll be able to provide better air circulation within your home, instead of leaving all that moisture-filled air trapped inside. Ventilation is also a key component in controlling the humidity levels in your manufactured home. If you’re about to cook dinner or take a bath after a long day, remember to use your home’s exhaust fans. If your manufactured home has no exhaust fans, or they aren’t in working order, it’s a good idea to purchase and install some as soon as possible. It may also help to "air" out your mobile home a couple of times a day.

Why you should care about condensation under metal roofing. If your only experience with metal roofing is with non-heated structures only, then you have never experienced condensation. Simple, but maybe something you never thought about. Metal roofing has been around for decades, but is still in its infancy in terms of broad application.
